Incontinence
Incontinence is the leakage of urine, or faecal matter. Bladder incontinence is very common especially stress incontinence (leakage with cough, sneeze, laugh etc) or urge incontinence (when you need to go, you really need to go NOW!), as is frequency (going to the toilet (on most days) more than 7 times per day with normal fluid intake). There are many contributing factors that lead to incontinence. Muscle weakness and loss of functions are a big contributor and we can help reinstate your pelvic floor muscles, show you how to contract them and when to contract them Bladder irritation and prolapse also contribute to incontinence. Frequency can be helped by medication (your GP or gynaecologist) and bladder retraining (physiotherapist).
