Muscle strains/tears
Muscle tears occur frequently in sports but can happen with daily activities and mishaps as well. Muscle tears are graded depending on size and impact on function. Like ligaments sprains, we divide muscle tears into 3 grades, 1 is minor and minimal dysfunction will be present, grade 2’s can be quite painful and usually result in some degree of dysfunction, grade 3 is a rupture of the muscle and these sometimes require surgical repair.
We can diagnose and grade your tear, and advise you of the timeframe that you will have to modify activity for and then prescribe an exercise program to restore the strength and flexibility to the muscle.
